Archeology of lakes and rivers
Histoiry, technics and inputs in Belgium, France and Zwitzerland
Shipwrecks, sunken villages, ritual deposits of weapons or jewelry... The many exceptional remains found in wetland sites reveal so much about life in the past.
A dozen Belgian, French and Swiss archaeological sites excavated by archaeologists and divers are presented here. Videos, models and interactive activities will help you understand the techniques (suction dredges, water curtains, parachutes...) used to find and excavate these sites. From floor to ceiling, showcases and aquarium, take a plunge into an underwater experience.
Curators and restorators will tell you how they saved these remains from disapearing once out of the water. Come and see what the dry ground sites never revealed before.
