Exchanges, trades and transportation to Northern Gaul

Expo Potin et Pots de Vin

The exhibition is a thematic and chronological presentation of trade in Gaul from the first Celts to the end of the roman period. It explores the imported and exported goods, the maritime, fluvial and terrestrial means of transport and the means of exchange, such as money or barter.

The exhibition presents a selection of objects (amphorae, luxury tableware, jewellery, glass...) discovered north of the Seine and imported from regions around the Mediterranean, South of the Seine region, Great Britain or also eastern-central Europe. It also presents coinage as well as diverse documents on the routes and means that allowed the transport of these products: elements from chariots and boats and their representations, military milestones...
